Step out of the funicular and you’re welcomed by large wrought iron doors, which give the impression of this being a rather palatial villa fit for royalty. Here nature combines elegantly with the infrastructure of the villa, ensuring guests are treated to surrounding sea views while being cocooned in fynbos vegetation. The expansive balcony and crystal clear swimming pool literally “hangs over” the whole of Clifton. The views here are exceptional. From the fine wooden table carvings to the Buddha statues and delicate patterns throughout, the villa could easily be mistaken for a classic Oriental boutique hotel. With flashes of intricate floral designs, curtains with gold tie-backs and wing-back chairs, Clifton Horizons certainly is grand. Tiles resembling marble have been carried throughout the main area to the outdoor patio and reflect the flecks of subtle gold accents of the décor. Restaurants and beaches of Sea Point and Camps Bay are a five minute drive away in either direction. The Clifton Horizons is not ideal for guests who suffer from Vertigo and who feel uncomfortable riding on a funicular.
