Things are looking exciting for the city of Cape Town! Our famous mountain being named top 7 natural wonders is a great achievement and certainly the buzz on the street. Here’s an interesting fact about the iconic mountain that you might not know: Table Mountain is the only natural site on the planet to have a constellation of stars named after it – Mensa, meaning “the table.”
Our Mayor Patricia de Lille described Table Mountain as “a symbol of permanence in a world that is full of change. It is a symbol of the heritage that we are privileged to have. And it is a symbol that reminds us that we are privileged enough to live in an incredible country with incredible assets, giving us hope for the future.”

The Cable Cars from the mountain base
Words to spur on any South African, most specifically the Cape Tonians that haven’t been up the mountain yet! It comes with strong recommendation that while you are visiting Cape Town to take a morning/day to climb up Table Mountain. You’ll be guaranteed a great work out and if the weather plays along, beautiful views once you reach top.
There are various routes up the mountain, with varying intensities. Be sure to check the weather before climbing. This mountain can be more dangerous than it has appears-always put safety first. Remember to take something warm for when you reach the top and water for the way up.
It is definitely something that everyone should do in their lifetime and once at the top, treat yourself to a cable car ride down. You would have earned it!
Happy Climbing!
